BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT / GOOD TO BE GREEN
Good behaviour is an essential condition for effective teaching and learning to take place. At Llantarnam School we believe that pupils and staff have the right to work in an environment that is safe, friendly, peaceful and fair. Good behaviour must be carefully developed and supported. High self-esteem promotes good behaviour, effective learning and positive relationships.
We believe that the best results arise from emphasising potential, rewarding success and giving praise for effort and achievement rather than focusing on shortcomings and failure. We therefore operate a Positive Behaviour Management Strategy. We reward good behaviour.
Our aim is to make the pupil more aware of the necessity for self-disciplines, self-awareness and self-control.
As parents / carers, and in line with our Parents in Partnership principle, you will be asked to contribute to this policy and comment on its content.
POSITIVE HANDLING / PHYSICAL INTERVENTION
Llantarnam Community Primary School is committed to ensuring that all staff and adults with responsibility for children’s safety and welfare will deal with all incidents involving aggressive behaviour and only use physical intervention as a last resort in line with Welsh Assembly and LEA advice. If used at all it will be in the context of a respectful, supportive relationship with the pupil. We will aim to ensure minimal risk of injury to pupils and staff.
