ADDITIONAL LEARNING NEEDS (ALN)

From September 2021, the Special Educational Needs framework started to be replaced with a new and reformed system - the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act (ALNET).

 

All schools in Wales will be required to make changes to their current systems. We are currently working closely with Torfaen Local Authority to ensure a smooth transition to the new ALNET.

ALNCo

ALNCo is short for Additional Learning Needs Coordinator.

All schools have an ALNCo. The ALNCo co-ordinates the Additional Learning Support within the school and will keep a record of the children with ALN and monitor their progress. They will advise you of how the school will meet your child’s needs.
